GUIDES ANNUAL CAMP 2008 ROCKED!

I loved the Guides camp! It was sooo fun! But I feel very guilty that I didn't stay till the end and had to leave early... because I had piano exam! While everyone is envying me that I can go off early, I really wanted to stay till the end with everyone else! Unfortunately, circumstances do not allow...

--- Btw, I promised myself not to blog only when the rest of the Guides have come back, to be fair. :) ---

Anyway, the first night was fun. The morning and afternoon was very tiring and hottt! As in the weather. We were pitching our tent and making our gadgets (e.g. shoerack, baggage rack and clothesline) under the hot sun! I already got sunburnt before the first day ends! But it's okay, I don't mind getting tanner. :) Haha.

The night activity was cool! The Sec 3s tried to trick us that our handphones and wallets were lost! Hahaha! My first reaction was, "Oh. Are you sure you really lost it? I don't quite believe it..." Because they are Sec 3s, not some primary school students. And there are teachers around. Do you really think that our valuables will be lost? Haha, I know that anything might happen, but just saying my thoughts. :) Then after that, there was some moment of dead silence and everyone, including the Sec 3s, were looking very serious and solemn. They asked us whether we saw anyone suspicious in the campsite. Suddenly, one of the Sec 3s started smiling a bit and ahha! That's when I knew sthg was wrong... Haha. Guess what happened next. Another Sec 3 handed out a list of TYPED-OUT document of the possible suspects for the theft! Hahaha! Can you believe it? Then everybody started to laugh and their trick was exposed! :) But I have to say that the Sec 3s were successful in tricking most of us, since they acted quite real.

In the end, it was just some kinda of mystery game that we have to find out who the thief was. We just went station by station and complete the tasks.

Haha, our patrol got ready our bathing stuff when we had free time so when we were allowed to bathe, we immediately grabbed our plastic bags and rushed off to the showering cubicles! Hahaha, we were very kiasu. xD Wow, I felt so refreshed after the quick shower!

I slept quite well after that, (even though we only had about 5 hours of sleep), cos I was tired.

Rise and shine for a brand new day! Our patrol woke up at 5am! So early! We were only supposed to wake up at 6.30am! Hah, it's ok. I just woke up, warmed myself up and rolled up my sleeping bag.

I was so looking forward to this day! You know why? COS WE WERE GOING TO EAST COAST PARK TO CYCLE AND ROLLERBLADE!!! I love rollerblading!

--- I shall just skip to the part where we were at ECP. ---

I cycled first for about 1 and a half hours. Gee, that's long! I grew tired of the bicycle in about 45 minutes cos I didn't know where else to ride (even though ECP is very big). Plus, the bicycle is not nice to ride on. :( I accidentally adjusted the gears and didn't know how to change it back. =.= And from then on, it was even more difficult to ride! I just can't wait for my turn to switch to inline skating.

Inline skating was sooo fun! I loved it a lot! Most people didn't know how to skate so I helped them a bit. Then I just skated on my own around the area. You know what?

I GOT TO USE THE NICE, BLUE, K2 SKATES THAT I'D BEEN EYEING ON! I GOT TO USE IT!!!

Hah, ok, I know I sound very exagerrated, but I was really so excited! The rental skates were BRAND NEW! And I couldn't believe my luck you know. They used such a good pair of skates for RENTAL USE. Anyway, it was good also, in a way, that they used it for rental, if not I wouldn't have a chance to wear it! Haha. It was so smooooth and perfect and nice to wear and I liked it a lot. Haha.

The cycling and rollerblading at ECP was very refreshing and it was sthg new as we got to go out of the campsite and do sthg else. I enjoyed it thoroughly man! :DDD

After my dinner at Mcdonalds, we had this challenge of going around the park searching for things and doing it also. It was sort of like a Treasure Hunt in some ways. Here were some of the things that we had to find:

- Someone wearing braces
- Caterpillar
- A couple with the girl taller than the boy
- A person with matching top and bottom
- A bicycle shop owner's business card
- Twins
- An angmoh baby
- An Olympics 2008 logo
- An ex-Guide or Brownie

There are many more, and we also had to do things also. Btw, it can't be from a Cedar Guide unless specifically mentioned. Things we had to do:

- Find 2 strangers to do with one of us the Kallang Wave
- Get someone to recite the 7th Guide Law
- 3 of us to sing the World Song
- Ask a shop owner for his/her birthday, favourite food and fave colour

Wow, we were kinda stunned by some of them, but we had no choice and we had to do it within 45 minutes. It was dark and we couldn't really see as clearly as in the daytime.

We had to take photos or video tape down our actions as evidences. Somehow, my phone went berserk and there was no volume for the videos! I was so disappointed but luckily the seniors 'trusted us'. I accidentally deleted one of the photos and forgot to show them the business card! But it's okay.

After that, when they were going to board the bus back to Camp Christine, I met up with my parents and... yea, that's it. That's the end of my Guides Camp! THAT'S IT. It was only one night-two day. I really wished I could stay on especially for the campfire but I have to set my priorities right. I can't just let one whole year of hard work on the piano go down the drain. Anyway, I had a lot of fun in the 2 days and I sure look forward to the next camp next year! :D
